About the Organization:
The Mission of The Gerontological Society of America is:
To promote the conduct of multi- and interdisciplinary research in aging by
expanding the quantity of and improving the quality of gerontological research,
and by increasing its funding resources; and
To disseminate gerontological research knowledge to researchers, to practitioners,
and to decision and opinion makers.
To provide researchers,
educators, practitioners, and policy makers with expanded opportunities to understand,
advance, integrate and use basic and applied research on aging to improve the
quality of life during processes of aging.
Our Major Methods:
Disseminating information
on aging research, policy, education and practice and their interrelationships
Providing networking
opportunities for researchers, policy makers, educators and practitioners.
Linking research with policy, practice and education.
Advocating for increased public and private funding for research on aging
Promoting career development and advancement of our members and the development of the next generation of
